Deacons

Deacons at Jackson Baptist Church (JBC) serve the body of believers and the surrounding community. The Deacons are 7 men who serve 3 year terms and are approved by the body. Our God appointed task is to assist people who need financial assistance, food, and a variety of other concerns. We meet monthly, and as needed, to discuss and make difficult decisions that affect people’s lives. We are called to be stewards of the resources God provides, that we may be his hands and feet to assist the needy. The body of believers at JBC submit offerings, some of those offerings are dedicated to benevolence, and some are dedicated to

running “Open Arms Food Pantry”. In either case, the deacons are prepared to help.

"In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much

wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons. A deacon must be faithful to his wife and must manage his children and his household well. Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus."

I Timothy 3:8-10, 12, 13.
